Its got a horrible distortion sound at the best of times, but I cleaned up and things may have opened up a bit more (maybe), might have been my imagination. I did dig out an old 90s boss guitar monitor ( was a kind of headphone amp) it has send and return and I think it may have a buffer, not sure. tried with a chinese cheapy golden archer, really nice and also with a couple diy pedals I made years ago mxr drive and bassfuzz thing. I played around with the peds and still not 100% sure because I don't have a reamp box to compare but to my ears the recordings I got were very useable in amix, sounded bettr than playing direct and using vst amps once I run it through boogex on the default setting reverb turned off and trying differnt cabs, pretty impressed. If it doesn't, then you'd look for other solutions. Try it with the straight wire connection. Yes, you might want to turn down the output to the pedal some, but the only reason you'd need anything else is if there is really noticeable excess noise either from a ground loop buzz or maybe if you're turning it down so much going out that it gets way down into the interface's noise floor. Most pedals will work just fine when connected directly to the interface. It will still work, it just might be a lot nastier than you'd want. There is a small class of pedals - mostly FuzzFace and its derivatives - which have a very low input impedance which, when connected to the inductance of a passive pickup creates a rather severe high cut which is kind of intrinsic to it sounding like we most often expect it to. Normally stomper pedals want to see a specific signal at the input, so it's crucial to obey level. I tested a rack compressor today that i had bought and never used it sounded great with bass guitar, got me thinking about pedals. The way I see it, Inserts are designed to be connected to effects units like rack compressors etc, so should not have a problem sending an unbalnced signal straight after the behringers input preamp into a pedal? What am I missing here? Just wondering if i will blow something up and release the magic smoke if i plug in the wrong cable haha. Its got plenty of I/O ( inserts, outs, 8 channels adat), great sounding pres, usb and firewire, and super low price, got second hand for $100.just no support, lousy drivers and no manual.įrom what i can tell “Insert” is different to the other 8 balanced “outs”, which would have impedance mis-match and would require a transformer/reamper/DI. Its a wonderfull unit, if your lucky and got a good one, plenty have been not so lucky. wish Behringer had thought to include that in the manual, for that matter actually written a manual and not just 5 page pamphlet, half of which is in different languages.no kidding lol. With Inserts, You need to use Insert cable (TRS splitter style).its screen printed on the back of the device, which is helpfull. Hi guys, just wondering whether if I need either a reamp or DI if my Behringer FCA1616 interface has 8 inserts, and I want try using ReaInsert and effects peds.
